Hi! I’m Lia (my nickname is Bathia), a self-taught artist, aside from seven years
at art school, born in Ukraine. I love the forest and long drives, bike rides out
of the city, laughing until my stomach hurts, tea with milk, film cameras, singing
when no one is home, and spinning in dance around my room. I create stories and characters, that’s what I do. I pour into it all the emotions and feelings I’ve lived through: pain, fear, joy, hope, a sense of being lost, falling in love, friendship.
My characters are alive, and so are the stories, because they are all a part of me.
I grew up in a harsh and cold Karelian village (Karelia is near Finland), and that place awakened in me a love for the forest, for mysteries and for the unknown. Once, I even wrote and began drawing a comic about northern myths and shamans, but then Yeshua took hold of my life. He saved me, and I found victory over my pain and fears, though I am still on this journey, and probably will be
for the rest of my life. My path is very difficult, painful, and deeply traumatic, and
in my stories I share it in one way or another.
I just want you to know that you are not alone in what you are going through. I may be able to understand what is in your heart and share that feeling with you. I simply sit beside you and listen.
See you inside my comics.
